Rhonda M. Jenney Vallely, 47, of Van Vleck passed away January 12, 2007. She was born January 22, 1959 in Plainwell, Michigan to Walter Louis and Shirley Ann Frost Jenney. Rhonda and her family moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1966. She graduated in 1977 from Pasadena High School. Shortly after graduation she moved to Sargent and lived there for many years. She has been a resident of Van Vleck for the past 20 years.
She was very active in the Sargent area and served on the Van Vleck School Board before having children of her own. Since living in the Bay City area she has been active in the 1st Baptist Church in Van Vleck and Calvary Baptist in Bay City. She was director of the Matagorda Services including Wamco Pallet and the Recycling Center. She secured the land and obtained grants to build the buildings and buy the equipment. She was director of the Matagorda County Museum in Bay City for several years. She also worked on the Karma, the floating A & M Classroom in Matagorda. Currently she was the Education Director for the Matagorda County Nature Center.
Survivors include her husband Hugh Vallely of Van Vleck; mother Shirley Burr & her husband Bruce of Houston; father Walter L. Jenney of Pasadena; sons Kevin Sanders, US Air Force, Persido of Monterey, CA and J. Ross Sanders, US Marines, Pensacola, FL; stepson Lee Northcutt & wife Brooke & their daughter Aurielle of Austin; stepdaughter Jennifer South & husband Michael, US Navy & their sons Andrew, Michael, and Logan of Jacksonville, FL; sisters Lorinda Draper of Pasadena & Carla Means & husband Thomas of Houston; mother-in-law Joan Vallely of Prescott, AZ; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Funeral service will be 3pm Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
