Wayne Rex Quinn, 88, of Bay City passed away June 20, 2014. He was born November 25, 1925 in Houston, TX to the late Sam A. Quinn and Fern Dow Quinn. He served in the US Navy during WWII and retired from Phillips Petroleum as a Coordinator.
He was preceded in death by one son, Rex Quinn, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margie Legg Quinn; son Dick Quinn; grandchildren Brooke Burns & husband Taylor and Hallie Filis & husband Daniel; great grandchildren Camille & Quinn Burns and Rhys Filis; sisters Sammie Wright and Mary Lou Birkner & husband Jack; extended family E. T., Kayla and Case, Jessica, Dustin and Jaxon, A. J., Savanna and Kolt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also always surrounded by a host of friends.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, cast iron cooking, rock polishing, and making jewelry, clocks, and lamps from deer antlers. His family and friends were his world and he enjoyed time visiting while sitting at the table with a cup of hot coffee paired with a sweet treat. Rex is a member of First Christian Church in Bay City and a life member of the VFW Post 2438.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 7PM Monday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Gary Green, Allen Green, Bill Newton, Johnny Wikoff, Crayden Dennard, Matt Caldwell, Buzzy Romine, Henry Green and Mark Dennard. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Cannon, Zip Braden, Billy Earl Robertson and John Ideus.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Legacy, MRMC, Dr. Lewis, and Leticia. To our family friend and caretaker Willie Bonner, thank you very much for improving Rex's quality of life and for all that you did for him during his final years.
