Rene R. Gonzalez, 72, of Van Vleck passed away January 31, 2023.  He was born September 26, 1950 in Stanton, TX to the late Adalberto Gonzalez and Ciailia Rodriguez Gonzalez.

Rene served his country, traveling the world with The United States Navy, and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He learned the trade of welding and fabrication while serving his country. He went on to be a welder and retired as such, from STP Nuclear Plant, where he worked for over 30 years.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an amazing grandfather. He was hardworking, loyal, friendly, caring, and lived his life for his family. His proudest achievements were being a good husband to his loving wife Rosemary, with whom 47 years of wedded bliss, were simply not enough. Being a father and role model to his only son Martin, who was his best friend, and finally, a loving and devoted grandfather to his only grandchild Conner. Rene passed peacefully, surrounded by the ones he loved most in life.

Survivors include his wife Rose Mary Gonzalez, his son and daughter-in-law Martin and Danielle Gonzalez, and his grandson Conner Gonzalez.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Monday, February 6, 2023 at Nichols Street Church of Christ.  Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Pallbearers are Martin Gonzalez, Ryan Johnson, Daniel Saenz, Dino Morales and Jesus Perez. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Rodriguez III, Conner Gonzalez, Christian Gutierrez and Aiden Villanueva.
