Refugio S. Orozco, 85, of Palacios passed away June 16, 2022.  He was born March 18, 1937 in Brownsville, TX to the late Manuel Orozco Gomez and Petra Solis Orozco.

Rufus came to Palacios where he met and married Janie with eight kids.  He worked as shrimper for many years.  He loved his family and grandchildren.  He enjoyed talking to people and in his spare time he loved music and playing his accordion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry G. Perez a grandson, John Cody Perez, 2 brothers Arturo Orozco and Jose Angel Orozco and 2 sisters Amparo Orozco Garcia and Amalia Orozco Garza.

Survivors include his wife Janie Garcia Orozco; daughters Rose Marie Alvarado, Sandra Rodriguez (Tony) and Debbie Warner (Greg); sons Joe A. Perez, Robert G. Perez (Lisa), Danny G. Perez (Rosie), Thomas G. Perez and Gary Orozco; sisters Ninfa Orozco Flores, Ofelia Orozco Aguilar and Gloria Orozco Rivera; 21 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the Palacios Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM.  Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Alvarado, Greg Warner, Tony Rodriguez, Rick Mata, Eric Mata and Joe Perez III.  Gary Orozco, Ryan Snyder and Pablo Frausto will serve as honorary pallbearers.
