Rebecca Jean Beard, 79, of Blessing, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024. She was born September 14, 1945, in Bay City, Texas, to John C. Gates, and Lydia Kopecky Gates.

Ms. Becky had a true servant's heart.  She loved helping others.  She enjoyed her time that she spent serving others in the Blessing E.F.L.M. Lions Club.  Volunteering her time driving the golf cart at the MOB transporting patients was one of her favorite past times.

She served several years on Tidehaven ISD School Board as one of the very first women on the board.  She worked many years for the City of Bay City – Bay City Gas Company.

Ms. Becky shared her talent of playing the piano on Sundays at church praising our Lord in Midfield and First Baptist Church of Blessing.  Her plants were one of her most prized possessions.  She had the best green thumb.

Lastly and most importantly, her grandbabies and great grandbabies were her heart and soul.  She will be greatly missed by family and many friends who were like family to her.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents; her son John "Clicker" Beard and grandson Mark Calhoun, Jr.  She is survived by her daughter Iona Wilder (Mark Calhoun); grandchildren Becka Wilder (Mark Ibarra), Jonathan and Jeffrey Calhoun, Alexa, Jayden and Haley Beard; great grandchildren Aiden, Aubree, Alivia and Adrian Ibarra.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials and contributions in Rebecca's name to be made to Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, to help pay funeral expenses.
