Obituary

Reba "Junie" McKissick, went to her heavenly home on Dec. 25, 2012. Junie was born on March 11, 1918 in the Ashby Community, Matagorda County, to the late James Luther "Pete" McKissick and Belva "Kate" Dunbar. As a "Rosie the Riveter" , Junie contributed to the war effort building planes in Atlanta, Georgia. After the war Junie returned to Houston and started a 40 year career in the insurance industry, the Hartford Company. She was an avid reader , loved her T. V. shows and the crossword puzzle. Junie was a Baptist by faith, and was baptized in the Tres Palacios River. She is survived by her loving family, her sister Barbara Sullivan and her brother Bill McKissick, sister-in-law, Thelma McKissick, Niece Ann Saha, and other loving family members. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers James Luther McKissick, Jr., Gyle T. McKissick, and Warren H. McKissick. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating.. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Louis Saha, Jeffrey Saha, Bill Johnson, Michael McKissick, Jay Meyer and Erik Thormaehlen. In lieu of flowers donations may by made to the Matagorda Regional Medical Center Foundation, 104 7th Street, Bay City, Texas 77414.
