Ramona A. Quintanilla, 90, of Bay City, TX, left this earth to be present with our Lord in the early morning hours on September 27, 2018, with family by her side.
Ramona was born July 26, 1928, in Weslaco, TX, to the late David Alvarado and Felipa Pena Alvarado. She married the love of her life, Felix V. Quintanilla, on August 22, 1948, and resided in Bay City, TX, where they raised ten children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and known amongst many for her generosity and great cooking, especially her tamales.
Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Felix V. Quintanilla; her siblings, Ernesto, David, and Isauro; her grandson, Alexander James Popham; and her daughter-in-law, Kimberley Quintanilla. She is survived by her daughters, Hilda Cadena (Juan) of Sugar Land, Alicia Quintanilla of Sugar Land, Angela Q. Eason of Fort Worth, Mary Oralia Berry (Brannock) of San Antonio, Olga Quintanilla of Bay City, Maria Irma Popham (Jim) of Bay City, and Ophelia Castillo (Oscar, Jr.) of San Antonio; sons, Robert Quintanilla of El Paso, Ruben Quintanilla (Cynthia) of Katy, and Rene Quintanilla of St. Mary's, GA; sisters, Emma Quesada, Maria Hernandez, and Juana De La Puente; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2018, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Juan Cadena, Jr., Nathan Quintanilla, Brian Quintanilla, Michael Eason, Matthew Eason, Mario Quintanilla, Andrew Popham, Daniel Quintanilla, and Juan Cadena, III.
