Quinta Brewer (San Antonio), 92, passed from this life to her eternal glory on August 31, 2008.
Quinta was born on December 20, 1915, to John and Hermina (Ackenhausen) Nahrendorf. She grew up and attended school in Leavenworth, Kansas. She graduated from Leavenworth High School. She received her R.N. from Cushing Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Leavenworth. She worked at Mercy Children's Hospital in Kansas City, MO., where she met Dr. Paul L. Brewer. They married on July 4, 1941, in Atlanta, GA. They lived in Natahala, N.C. and Kansas City, MO, before moving to Bay City, TX. in 1944. Dr. Brewer established the first pediatric practice in Matagorda County. Quinta and Paul made their home in Bay City for 48 years, raising 3 children. After her husband's death in 1992, Quinta moved to San Antonio where she resided at the Inn at Los Patios for the last 16 years.
Quinta was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant son Larry Paul. She was also preceded by sisters Leona Niemann & Erma Nahrendorf of Leavenworth, KS. , Hermina Heinemeier of Austin, TX.
Quinta is survived by her children: Paula McBride and her husband Warren of San Antonio, TX., Jennifer Ehlers and her husband Rick of Seguin, TX and Hugh Brewer and his wife Cindy of Lennox, SD. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kimberly Claxton and husband Jeff of Denver, CO, Stuart McBride and his wife Bridgett of Cross Roads, TX., Kirk McBride of San Antonio, TX., Erin Teter and husband Steven of Round Rock, TX., Zachary Ehlers and wife Jessica of Garland, TX., Colin Ehlers of Brooklyn, NY, Kyle Brewer of Vermillion, SD, & Joel Brewer of Lennox, SD; by one sister, Emma Nahrendorf of Leavenworth, KS as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bay City, TX 11:00 AM Friday, Sept. 5, 2008. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to St. Peter Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
