Phillip Joe Strimple, 69, of Bay City, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, after a valiant, yet long battle with cancer.
He was born March 9, 1939, in Lawrence, KS to Joseph Everett Strimple and Dorothy "Anne" Margaret Gibson Strimple. He graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, TX in 1957 and has been a resident of Bay City since 1974.
Phil was a kind and most generous man who never met a stranger, loved life completely, and took great joy in helping others, no matter what personal sacrifice he had to make to do so. He was employed for 19 years at Celanese (Oxea) with CDI Stubbs and Mustang Engineering, where he was an electrical designer. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sylvia Rosemary Strimple; three daughters, Debbie Jones (John) and Sharon Kangeter (David) of Galveston, TX and Kimberly Ward (Lane) of Bay City, TX; one son, Kenneth Feigle of Sweeny, TX; three grandsons, David Kangeter, II of Westminster, CO, Lane Ward, Jr. and Joseph Ward of Bay City, TX; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; an uncle, Wayne Gibson; mother-in-law, Sylvia Cornitius; and beloved nephew, Timothy Castille.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday, May 26, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, TX, officiated by Phil's longtime friend, Kevin Lowrance. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Ward, Lane Ward, Jr., David Kangeter, II, John Jones, Lane Ward, Sr. and Lupe Nevarez.
