Pete Mata Aguilar, 97, of Palacios passed away November 2, 2023.  He was born November 30, 1925 in Yorktown, Texas to the late Guadalupe Aguilar and Carlotta Mata Aguilar.

Our Daddy (Pete) loved the family that he was blessed with.  He especially loved it when we were all together.  We never knew what he was going to say, because he loved to make us laugh.  He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, many of whom he and our mom were able to attend their weddings.  We will all miss his smiles, hugs, laughing at his quick wit and watching the Astros games with him.

Rest in peace, Daddy.  It's not the end but only the beginning!  One day we will meet with you again.  Daddy, mom and all of your children will forever have you in our hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Mendiola.

Survivors include his wife Rosie G. Aguilar; daughters Gloria Sisneros (Isidoro), Dora Date, Sylvia Lynch (Michael), Delia Warny (Mark), Margie Wier (Steven) and Angie Daspit; sons Pete Aguilar, Jr. (Kathy) and Johnny Mendiola (Elizabeth); 21 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Monday, November 6, 2023 at the Palacios Funeral Home.  A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Palacios.  Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the Brazoria Cemetery in Brazoria, TX.  Pallbearers will be Manuel Rendon, Jason Wier, Wade Wier, Kent Warny, Matthew Date and Jacob Warny.
