After a courageous battle with cancer, Peggy Menke Wilkinson, 56, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 27, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born in Columbus, Texas to Roy & Mary Menke.

Peggy Lived in Bay City with her husband of over 35 years Robert J. Wilkinson, Jr. She was active over the years with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Junior Service League where she was past president and Matagorda County Texas Exes where she served as Scholarship Chairperson for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Robert J. "Bobby" Wilkinson, Jr. of Bay City; daughters Mindy Wilkinson Mechlem & husband Jeffrey Mechlem, Jr. of Houston and Malynn Wilkinson Ashcraft & husband Maurice Ashcraft, Jr. of Oklahoma; son William Christopher Wilkinson of Austin; brother Roy H. Menke, Jr. & wife Tammi of Weimer, TX and grandchildren Morgan Reber, Maurice Ashcraft III, Raleigh Ashcraft, Lillian Ashcraft & Isabella Ashcraft.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5pm to 7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sam Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Dan Rollins, Paul Serra, Richard Knapik, Lindsey Thompson, Erwin Ward, Vince Maloney & Bill Wiginton. Honorary pallbearers will be Torsten Normann-Petersen, Bert Huebner, Darrell Hertel, Ken Barron, Jim Naiser and Robby Woodard. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Boys & Girls Club of Bay City.
