Obituary

Peggy Ruth Bishop White, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep October 3, 2007. She has rejoined her husband of 44 years, Jack H. White, Sr. in eternal life. She was born October 28, 1925 in Iowa Park, Texas to the late Lucion Bernard Bishop and Jewell Opal Lamb Bishop Maxwell.

While living near Plainview, Texas, her mother taught her to drive in a Model "A" Ford at the age of eight. She worked as secretary for Hoosier and Cramm Real Estate in Plainview, TX while attending Lippert's Business College to become a legal secretary. She met Jack Hampton White and married him November 15, 1947. After traveling with a Sun Oil seismograph crew, they were transferred to the Markham Sun Oil Office. They spent 18 years in Markham before being transferred to Houston in 1970. After 19 years there, Mr. White retired and they returned to Markham. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Markham.

Survivors include daughter Rhonda Fox & husband Greg of Sweeny, son Gary White & wife Patricia of Sugar Land; sisters Doris Wattenberger & husband Jimmy & Jo Ann Williams all of Ft. Worth; brothers Sonny Maxwell & wife Cindy of Pleasanton, TX and David Maxwell & wife Trudy of Sherman, TX; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. White, Sr. in 1991and son Jack H. White, Jr. in 2006.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Markham with Rev. Howard Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Ron Pope, Russell Pope and Stephen Fox.; her son: Gary White; and family friends: Grady Quinney and Mike Elliott. The family will receive friends and family from 6pm to 8pm Friday at the funeral home.
