IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Roger
Roe
December 9, 1948 – September 18, 2023
Paul Roger Roe, 74, of Bay City passed away September 18, 2023. He was born December 9, 1948 in Bay City to the late F. W. "Pete" Roe and Edna Bakke Roe.
The Old Dude, as most of you know him, was a very giving and loving man to anyone that crossed his path, and we mean anyone! He was a graduate of Bay City High School and attended Wharton County Jr. College where he met the love of his life, Mary Jane "Corky" Roe. He and Corky raised their three kids while maintaining Pete's Paint & Body Shop, continuing his father's legacy. As anyone knows in town, you could always rely on Paul "Pete" to fix whatever you needed. He was highly dedicated to volunteering and working for a better purpose for everyone, including the youth of Matagorda County. No words can express how lucky we were to have him as a father. From the words of his close friend Mike, "If the population consisted of 90% of people just like your dad Paul, there would be no problems at all in this world and the world would be a better place".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Kelsey Roe and his wife Mary Jane "Corky" Roe. Survivors include daughter Lesley Roe Fries and husband Steven; sons Jody Roe and wife Melea and Tully Roe; brother Robert Roe and grandchildren Carly Simpson, Clara Beth Roe, Emory Roe and Rylan Roe.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Nichols Street Church of Christ. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM with Matt Springfield officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rylan Roe, Jason Roe, Ross Roe, Robert Roe, Edward Schwausch and Bill Johnson. Mike Malek, Jay Henry and Lane Dodd will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bay City VFW Post 2438 https://gofund.me/c55be6e3 , St. Jude Children's Hospital https://raise.stjude.org/fundraiser/4961613 or the American Cancer Society.
