Patricia Metcalf Yeager, 81, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she was living for the past year. She was born on February 15, 1945, in Washington D.C., to Ted and Sarah Metcalf. Pat quietly met her Lord and Savior, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and love of her family.

Pat graduated among the top four students in her class from Oyster River High School in Durham, New Hampshire. She attended the University of Connecticut from 1963 to 1967, where she earned her degree before answering a unique call to serve her country. She enlisted in the United States Army to obtain her dietitian's license, completing her internship at Walter Reed Hospital. During her five years of military service, Pat was stationed for a year at Landstuhl, Germany, an experience she often recalled with fondness as it allowed her to travel while proudly serving her country.

Following her honorable military service, Pat continued her career as a registered dietitian at the University of Texas Health Center in Tyler, Texas, where she faithfully served patients until her retirement.

In 1988, she met the love of her life, Bill Yeager, and the two were married in December, sharing many happy years together in Frankston, Texas. Together, they found great joy in traveling and faithfully serving their church, whether by teaching Sunday School, participating in mission trips, or encouraging others in their faith. Her relationship with the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she devoted time each day to reading her Bible and growing in her faith.

Following retirement, she and Bill made their home in Palacios, Texas, where they continued to enjoy life together. There she embraced the joys of retirement by quilting, gardening, serving faithfully at First Baptist Church of Palacios, volunteering in the Deutschburg community, and traveling throughout South Texas to cheer on her grandchildren at their many sporting events. Pat found contentment in the kitchen, where she was always baking or trying out a new recipe. Family and friends knew that a visit to her home almost always meant finding freshly baked cookies or another favorite sweet treat waiting to be enjoyed. She never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. Whether visiting with a lifelong friend or someone she had just met, she could strike up a conversation about almost anything and make them feel like family. Her deep faith, generous spirit, and unwavering love and support for her family were reflected in the way she lived each day, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew and loved her.

Patricia will be lovingly remembered by her son, Chris (Mindy) Skoglund; her cherished grandchildren, Jackson, Jordyn, and Avery Skoglund; her sister, Sue (Mark) Canning; her brothers, Kirk (Kathy) Metcalf and Mike (Amy) Metcalf; as well as numerous stepchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Yeager; parents, Ted and Sarah Metcalf; stepmom Joyce Metcalf, and grandson Luke Yeager.

Pat's life was marked by dedication to God, her country, her profession, and her family. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and steadfast love that will continue to inspire all who knew her as simply ‘Pat’ and ‘Nana’.

Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Pat's life on August 7th. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. at Deutschburg Community Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Palacios. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Pat's honor be made to First Baptist Church of Palacios or First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi Recreation Ministry.
