Patricia D. Ashcraft Schutz, 81 , of Van Vleck passed away August 2, 2022. She was born April 7, 1941 in Covington, Kentucky to the late Llano Carl Ashcraft and Alma Louise Williams Ashcraft.

Pat re-located to the Southern California area with her mother, and grandmother when she was a child, and graduated from Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, CA in 1959. While attending high school she met Kenneth Schutz , who was stationed at Camp Pendleton at the time. They married on August 8, 1959. They lived and worked in California for many years and raised two children. In 1975, they moved to Bay City, TX where Ken grew up. Pat worked at Matagorda General Hospital and Medical & Surgical Clinic for many years as insurance clerk, and later worked as a bookkeeper for Stanley's Store Inc. before retiring.

Along with her parents and grandparents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, and nieces Cathy Schutz, and Rhonda Schutz Sutton. She is survived by her daughter Sherri Schutz Ray and husband Terry; son Derek "Dusty" Schutz; sister Virginia "Ginny" Sparlin; grandchildren Ronnie Hadley and wife Brittany, Zach Schutz and wife Amy, Mariah Hadley and her father Keith Hadley, and Lalie Schutz; great-grandchildren Emily Schutz, Lincoln Hadley and Tymon Schutz; nephew Frank Schutz and wife Tanya and his children Larry and Katee Schutz; nephew Eric Mills; niece Gina Fernandez and husband Jody, and her children Nicholas and Dylan Rehlander.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Assoc. or the charity of your choice.
