Patricia Gibbens, nèe Farmer, 77, of Bay City, TX, passed away Sunday, May 21 at Matagorda Regional Medical Center. She was surrounded by loved ones in her last hours on Earth before she was called home to be with the Lord.
Pat, as she was fondly called by family and friends, was born on February 22, 1940 in London, England. She was raised by her mother Elsie Farmer, née Tombs, and her step-father, Freddy Linford. In 1968, Pat and her children moved to Glasgow, Scotland. In September 1971, she met David Gibbens, a Navy petty officer stationed in Sandbank, Scotland. The two spent many evenings at the EM Club and Pat introduced David to jazz music and Indian food. She and David were married July 13, 1973 in Dunoon, Scotland. In 1974, shortly after the birth of their son, the family moved to Norfolk, Virginia where David was then stationed. After David's Honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, the family moved to Texas where they spent many years raising their children in Van Vleck. After their kids were grown, Pat and David moved several times for his job. Of all the places they lived, Pat loved her time in Wyoming the most. She enjoyed the weather and scenery and made some wonderful friends there. She was a woman who was strong in her faith and loved unconditionally. Her kindness and generosity was an inspiration to others. She loved knitting, working in her flower gardens, cooking and baking with her grandchildren.
