It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Pasqual (Packy) S. Martinez, 91, of Bay City, Texas, on Saturday, November 8, 2025. He was born May 14, 1934, in Cuero, Texas to the late Prospero Martinez and Juana Salazar Martinez.
Packy was truly a man that lived a life of FAITH in his savior; HOPE and LOVE for his family, friends and community.
Packy worked his way through college, receiving a Bachelor's in Architecture while supporting his family. Upon graduation Packy worked for Celanese until his retirement. During his life Packy was devoted to his loving wife, daughter and family. He was a devout Catholic donating countless time in the service of his savior and church. As member of the Knights of Columbus he rose to the level of a fourth degree, becoming a Sir Knight. Packy, dedicated to providing humanitarian support, became a member of the Lions Club where he achieved the Melvin Jones and Jack Wiech Fellow awards. He was a strong believer in the betterment of the community which he accomplished through serving on the Selective Service Board, Community Development Corporation, BCISD School Board and finally on Bay City's City Council.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters and six brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Delfina Rodriguez Martinez; daughter, Dora Helton, (Robert Helton); grandchildren, Christen Moreno Avants and Andres Moreno; great grandchildren, Sidney Avants, Andres Moreno Jr., and Isaiah Martinez; and great-great granddaughter Jocelyn Moreno.
The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation from 1:00pm-2:00pm Friday, November 14, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with The Holy Rosary at 1:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00pm with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers for Mr. Martinez will be Randy Acosta, Isaiah Martinez, Jimmy Kocurek, Ralph Gonzales, Adam Gonzales and Edward Cortez. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Helton, Richard Muniz, Joe Hernandez, Carmel Valdez, Noah Maher and Andres Moreno Jr.
