Orvel Matura, 74, of Collegeport, passed away October 11, 2009. He was born May 5, 1935 in El Campo, TX to Louis and Frances Applegate Matura. He was a devoted husband and father, retired Mechanic, Farmer, and Rancher.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda Shilling Matura; a son: Orvel Jr.; daughters: Becky Bartek and Brenda Lindsey & husband Gary; 6 grandchildren: Chris & wife Kasie, Chad & wife Denise, Travis, and Megan Bartek, Scott Lindsey & wife Janine, and Ashley Lindsey Gabrysch & husband Keith; 3 grandchildren: Mira Lindsey, Chandler Gabrysch and Tyler Bartek; brothers: Raymond, Dan, and Lester Matura; sisters: Flossie Yoxtheimer, Louise Lansford, Lois Guzman, Margie Sain and Kathy Corporon. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by 2 brothers: J.D. and Leonard Matura.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Chaplain Don Storey of Houston Hospice El Campo, officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Victor Eggemeyer, Milton Vavra, Jarrett Vavra, Rick Brasuell, Donnie West, David Trevino and Kevin Socha.
