Opal Jean Jones, 89, passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2011. She was born August 9, 1922 to Joseph & Mollie Sims in Austin, Arkansas She was preceded in death by sons Joey J. Jones & Billy Charles Jones; brothers Curry & Henry Sims; sisters Blanche Haynes & Viola Rae and half-sister Sallie Haynes.

Opal worked for 25 years for Franklin Electric in Jacksonville, AR. After the death of her husband Willie "Bill" Jones in 1983 she moved to Bay City to be near her children. Opal loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to garden & spend time with her flowers.

Survivors include daughter Dee Stone & husband Don of Bay City; sons Johnny Wayne Jones & wife Vickie of Bay City and Terry Jones of Beaumont; grandchildren Tami Stone Bolton & husband Les, Chance Stone & wife Erin, Donna Herring & husband Rick & Tess Jones; great grandchildren Katelyn Stone, Stone Bolton, Marin Bolton, Sarah Herring & Michael Herring, a number of nieces and nephews and her caregiver Linda Harris.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Ashcraft officiating. Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 at the Old Austin Cemetery in Ward, Arkansas.
