Obituary
On September 7, 1927 Olice Lee Hammond was born to Tom and Eva Birmingham in Clemville, TX. She went to be with the Lord on Sept 5, 2016 after a very lengthy battle against Alzheimer's.
She married her sweetheart Robert Winston Hammond on April 30, 1946 at the Methodist Church in West Columbia, TX. They resided in Sweeny, TX for all of their years together creating a loving family.
She worked for many years as a practical nurse and later as the E.R. Clerk at Sweeny Community Hospital. Olice enjoyed playing volleyball as a young adult. Later in life she was an amazing artist, creating many beautiful paintings. She attended Gulf Coast Bible Church where her faith grew even stronger. Her church family admired and loved her as much as her own family did. Olice loved to dance, have family gatherings and be the laughter of the party. She was a fun loving person who truly enjoyed life to the fullest.
Olice Lee Hammond was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bradley Birmingham, her Brother-In-Law Hank Anthis and her devoted loving husband Robert Winston Hammond. She is survived by her children Robert Lynn Hammond, Melba Darlene Smith (Donald), Terry Glenn Hammond (Gail), Her sisters Lura Janet Anthis and Barbara Ann Chandler. Her grandchildren Patchouli Smith, Joe Hammond (Alicia), Destin Muntzel (Alicia), Bianca Cunningham (Blaine), Robert Lee Hammond (Ginger), Lucas Hammond (Kathya) and Mikah Hammond (Kassy). Nephews B.C. Birmingham, Don Anthis, Tommy Anthis, Gregory Pitcock and Niece Tina Jackson. As well as 7 Great-Grandsons and 9 Great-Grandaughters.
Visitation will be held Friday September 9th, 5:00 to 7:00pm at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, TX. Service will be held Saturday September 10th 10:00 am at Gulf Coast Bible Church, Sweeny, TX with graveside service to follow at Sweeny Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Destin Muntzel, Lucas Hammond, Joe Hammond, Greg Pitcock, Robert Lee Hammond and Mikah Hammond.
In lieu of flowers the family asks those that wish to please make donation to Alzheimer's Texas.
