Charles Norman Brown, Sr., 82, passed away June 26, 2008. He was born September 8, 1925 in Houston, Texas to the late Charles David & Bertha Lea May Brown. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy. In 1949 he married Evelyn Christine Davis and signed a three contract as music teacher for Hempstead High School Band. In 1952 he went to work for Texas Gulf Sulphur Co. as an accounting clerk where he remained until his retirement in 1983. She preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1998. Norman had a great sense of humor and played the piano famously, entertaining at private and public events in the surrounding area for many years. He generously volunteered his time and talents to many organizations and was a special friend to many.
Survivors include his son Charles Norman Brown, Jr. of Blessing; sisters Gladys Brown Drenner of El Campo & Marion Brown Hobbins of Sugar Land and grandson Charles Wade Brown of Seadrift, TX. His brother Johnnie Brown also preceded him in death.
A memorial service honoring his life will be at 11:00 AM Monday, June 30, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. He will be privately interred next to his wife at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
