Obituary

Norman Irwin Brotemarkle died Feb. 14, 2008 at his home in Palacios, TX. He was born in Kansas Oct. 10, 1916 to the late James Henry & Phoebe Anna Scott Brotemarkle. When Norman was eight years old, his family moved to Palacios, TX. Norman graduated from Palacios High School and attended A & M University. In 1941 he married Mary Lee Bull, a High School teacher in Palacios. After serving in the US Navy during WW II, he returned to Palacios where he and Mary Lee raised their family. He farmed rice for many years, finding time for golfing & fishing as often as he could. He also contributed to the community, serving as a deacon, elder, and treasurer for the First Presbyterian Church and serving on the Palacios City Council. He was proud of his role in the founding of the Palacios Golf Course.

Norman was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lee, his son Gary Lee Brotemarkle and his sister Ellen Shelton. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law Sue & Bill Stacy of San Antonio; two grandchildren and their spouses Sarah & Scott Collins and Janet & Jason Wenzel; and four great grandchildren Marley & Liam Wenzel and Grace & Charis Collins.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Palacios with Revs. Andy & Janell Blair & Rev. Doug Blanton officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.taylorbros.net.
