Nicolas "Nico" Garza, Sr., 87, of Bay City passed away May 9, 2017. He was born on March 28, 1930 at the Pinto Ranch in Hidalgo County, TX to the late Ynocente and Juana Zepeda Garza.

Nico was a loving family man and enjoyed barbequing for them and his friends. He cherished the time he spent as a truck driver. He loved his walks in the morning, and working in his garden cultivating vegetables.

Nico is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Villanueva Garza; children, Julio Garza (Chris), J. Armando Garza (Esther), Mario Garza, Gloria Rivas, Reina Price (Richard), Victoria Garza, Graciela Bidigare (John), Diana Soto and Nicolas Garza, Jr.; 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives 4:00-8:00pm, with a 6:00pm Rosary, Thursday, May 11 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00am Friday, May 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Raymond Rivas, Justin Rivas, Mario Garza, Jr., Noah Garza, Joseph Garza, John Garza, John Bidigare II and Paul Soto, Jr.
