Nicanora Samora Mireles, 96, of Bay City, Tx. passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on the evening of Tuesday, April 5, 2016. She was born on February 21, 1920 in Yoakum, Tx. to the late Juan & Concepcion Samora.
Nicanora was a hard working woman who loved to sew, knit, make tortillas for her grandchildren as well as take care of her chickens. She spent her days watching her novelas and praying for her family members whom she loved very much. She was a strong woman and even up until her final moments she never complained but instead took the time to bless anyone who came to visit her. Although her family didn't want to see her leave they are filled with so many loving memories of Nica that will surpass all the grief of this difficult time.
Nicanora is survived by her sister, Maria Gongora, daughters, Martha Mireles, Soyla Soto and husband Louis, sons, Felix Mireles and wife Yolanda, Morris Mirelez and wife Helen, Joe Mireles, grandsons, Greg Cordoba and wife Diana, Matt Mireles and wife Dee, Colony Soto, Mark Mireles, Martin Mirelez and wife Debra, Jonathan Mirelez, granddaughters, Jessica Mirelez, Christina McGriggs and husband Lee, Sarah Mireles, Stephanie Hajducek and husband Chris, Kathy Schmidt, Jazlynn Mireles as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Martin Mireles, brothers, Pedro, Ignacio, Jose, Venancio and Juan and her grandson Daniel Soto.
Nicanora was the most giving person who always shared everything she had with those that were in need. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Nicanora's memory to:

The family will receive visitors at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A rosary will be recited beginning at 6:00pm on Friday evening. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church beginning at 10:00am with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, Tx.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Greg Cordoba, Colony Soto, Matt Mireles, Mark Mireles, Martin Mirelez and Jonathan Mirelez. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Cordoba and Chris Hajducek.
