Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Neal Duron Farley at the age of 91.  He died suddenly on December 16, 2025 in Missouri City, TX. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on February 21 at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, TX.

Neal was born in Tyler, TX on May 13, 1934 to Lester Duron and Lena Mae Farley. Growing up, he and his family moved around Texas and Louisiana to wherever his Father's oilfield jobs took them. Each town brought new adventures and stories to their life. They finally settled in Corpus Christi, TX in 1948 where his father started his own business rebuilding and selling wellhead equipment. Neal graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1952 and then served in the U.S. Army for 3 years in Germany as a medic. Following his service, he attended the University of Texas in Austin, where, in 1961, he graduated with a degree in Accounting.

After graduation, Neal worked in Austin and Dallas before moving to Houston, where he met his beautiful wife of 52 years, Cynthia Ann Rudin. During the 1970s oil boom, Neal decided to follow in his father’s footsteps, and started his business, Farley Equipment Co. rebuilding and selling wellhead equipment which he and Cindy successfully operated until their retirement in the early 1990s.

Neal liked to stay busy and always had a project. He enjoyed working in his yard, and, since he had a "green thumb" everything was always beautiful. He and Cindy enjoyed boating, fishing, and crabbing. He liked to barbecue and cook for family and friends which was a trait inherited from his beloved Mother.

He was a member of the Sugar Land Masonic Lodge 1141 and Houston's Scottish Rite Valley.

Neal is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy; brother-in-law, Donald S.Atkins, Fuquay-Varina, NC; nieces Amy E. Hovorak (David) of College Station; and Dena L. Atkins Fowler (Paul) and great-nephews Spencer and Conner Fowler; and Parker Owen (Angela), and great-great niece and nephew Valetta and Weston, Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sharon Rudin Walker (Dan) and their children Christopher (Alex) and daughter Violet, and Andrew (Carly) and children Banks and Dawson; and brother-in-law Robert Rudin (Shelly) and their children Ryan, (Olivia) and son Julian, Amanda Lindenberg (Lewis) and sons Remi and Leivy, Austin Qualls (Jessica) and Macy Qualls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, B. Margot F. Bledsoe and Martha A. F. Atkins; his niece, Christi A. Atkins Owen; and his beloved poodles.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his neighbor, Pat Henry who was a Godsend to him the last two years. We also want to thank his friends at his apartment complex for their help and kind words.
