Myrtle A. Prukop Owen, 94, of Bay City, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009, in Houston at the home of her daughter, Betty. She was born October 20, 1915 in Inez, Texas to the late Ben Henry Prukop and Alvie Obsta Prukop. Myrtle was a long time resident of Bay City, before moving to Hemphill in 1994 to live with her daughter, Virginia. Since 1994 she has been splitting her time between Houston and Hemphill. Myrtle was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Van Vleck.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey Owen, son Donald Owen, granddaughter Kathy Smith Frazier, 3 great grandchildren Wendy Smith, Rodney Frazier, and, Malcum Ray Owen, brother Louis Prukop, sister Catherine L. Schumacher. Myrtle is survived by her 2 daughters: Betty Owen Grammer & husband James of Houston and Virginia Owen Smith & husband Glyn of Hemphill; son: Bennie Owen & wife Shirley of Bay City; brother: John J. Prukop & wife Ruby of Victoria; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren scattered all over.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be: James Grammer, Greg Owen, Christopher Owen, Stephen Scott, Gary Scott, James Prukop, Samuel Quarles, Roy Owen, Carl Owen, Robert Obsta, Rodney Griner, and Christopher Sabrasula
