Obituary

Myrtle Gregory Huebner died on March 19, 2009 in Bay City. She was born on August 26, 1927 in Houston to Lloyd and Myrtle Hayden Gregory. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and studied voice in New York City. She is remembered for her beautiful singing voice and for her involvement with the choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City, both as a member and soloist. She was a gifted singer and enjoyed sharing her voice with her church and her community. She was also very active in other organizations, and was a charter member of the Bay City Junior Service League.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Andrew Huebner, Jr. in 2007. Her sister Martha Gregory Duchesneau also preceded her in death. Her brother Dr. Lloyd Gregory, Jr. and his wife Caroline survive her. She is also survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law Jan and Rich Harmon, Kristi and Greg Meyer and Molly and Keith Dunn; grandchildren Julia and Miranda Harmon, Clay, Bryan, Keith and wife Jennie Meyer and Kaitlyn, Bethany, Anna and John Dunn. She was very proud of her great-grandchildren Luke and Logan Meyer and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She treasured her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by them all.

Her family would like to express their gratitude to her special caregivers, Dora Tellison, Gladys Alexander and Tracy Brinkley. We would also like to thank the staff of Matagorda House Healthcare Center and Angels Care Home Health, who provided such wonderful care.

Our mother came to Bay City as a bride in 1949, and she dearly loved her community. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to one of the local organizations that she supported: Bay City Public Library, Bay City Nature and Birding Center, the organ fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City or For The Love of Animals.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Monday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Sydnor and Rev. Hoss Gwin officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
