Myrna Virginia Pontiff, 91, of Bay City passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019. She was born to Hazel Pylant Reynolds and Grover C. Reynolds in Purvis, Mississippi on January 6, 1928. She graduated from Mississippi Southern College in 1950 and again with a Master's Degree in 1979. Myrna was a retired teacher, having had an outstanding career at Bay City High School as a typing and bookkeeping instructor. She was recognized as an avid supporter of the BCHS Marching Band, and was the first teacher in Bay City selected as an honorary member of that "famous Black Cat Marching Band." Myrna was a charter member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and in the early 1980's created the church's Adoptsa program which provided support to the church's senior citizens. She was active in Pilot Club and volunteered many hours to UMCOR Sager Brown. In 1972, she was honored as Bay City's Outstanding Citizen.

Myrna is survived by her two brothers: Rodney and Hubert Reynolds; son: Steve D. Pontiff of Sugar Land, TX; and daughter Brenda Pontiff of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by her cherished grandsons: Steven T. Pontiff and Christopher B. Pontiff and nieces and a nephew.

The Family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Ramsey Officiating. Interment will be held at Coal Town Cemetery in Purvis, Mississippi at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to UMCOR Sager Brown in Louisiana.
