Obituary

Muriel Thrasher Lawhon passed away peacefully on September 6, 2008. She was born May 7, 1924 in Gulf, Texas to the late Algernon & Rita Inglehart Thrasher.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Lawhon and brother Bill Thrasher. Muriel is survived by daughters Bonnie Chalmers & husband Don and Linda Moore & husband Roy; grandchildren Robert Uher, Diana Maust, Laura Moore Isenring & husband Bernhard, Justin Moore & wife Dory, & David Moore; great grandchildren Andrew Maust & Jack Maust; brother Elwin Thrasher & wife Billie and numerous nieces & nephews.

Muriel was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda and served on the Altar Guild and as Senior Warden. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution & the Daughters of Texas Confederacy and a charter member of River's End Garden Club. She left a legacy of love that her family will cherish forever. Muriel will be remembered for her kindness and friendship to all.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 at Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda with Rev. Lawrence Gwin officiating. Interment will follow at the Matagorda Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Chalmers, Roy Moore, Robert Uher, Justin Moore, Joe Lawhon, Carl Thrasher, Glenn Thrasher & David Moore. Davant Sterry, Ray Culver, Gardner Serrill, Carl Anderson, Mickey Rehak, Rich Stanley, James Smith & Jack Thompson will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; 9400 N. Central Expy., Suite 1201; Dallas, TX 75231 or to Christ Church in Matagorda.
