Obituary

Mollie Weathers Walker, 95, was born February 25, 1912 in Nashoba, Oklahoma to George Washington Weathers and Haley Byers Weathers. She died peacefully at Sweeny House in Sweeny, Texas Thursday, April 26, 2007.

Her funeral service will be Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Cedar Lane Baptist Church, the church of her youth and old age, in Matagorda County at 10:30 AM with Rev. Zach Nicholson officiating. Mollie's family will visit with friends and relatives at the Cedar Lane Baptist Church Annex from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM Saturday. Her burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers are Jerry Allen, Terry Walker, Ray Walker, Larry Weathers, Lee Weathers, Barry Weathers, David Weathers and Mark Grisham. Her former neighbors in Cedar Lane and her nieces and nephews are honorary pallbearers.

She is survived by her dear siblings, sister Annie Clements of Webster and three brothers Frank, Ben and wife Maggie, and "Dub" and his wife Audis Weathers of Cedar Lane, and one brother-in-law Sam Walker of Lake Jackson. Jean Hinkle, her only child, of the San Bernard River Prairie survives her. She has two beloved grandchildren Harold Hinkle of Brazoria and his children Nathan Hinkle of Kings Bay, Georgia and Emmalee Anne Hinkle of Pampa, TX; Mollie Hinkle Webber and husband Joel and children Lee Walker Payne and James Thomas Payne of the San Bernard River Prairie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years Millard Thornton Walker, her sister Lillie Walker, and son-in-law Herbert Harold Hinkle.
Mollie was a homemaker, charter member of Cedar Lane Baptist church and active for more than fifty years in Texas Extension Homemakers Association.

The family extends thanks to both units at Sweeny House where the employees treated her with professional care, patience, and friendliness. A-Med Healthcare Group also attended her during her last weeks; Jan Watkins, Diana Hardman, and Mary Owen compassionately helped Mollie make her last transition comfortably. Her family is grateful.
