Obituary
Faye Wood, 83, passed away on May 2, 2015. Faye was born at home on December 17, 1931in Winchester, Mississippi to the late William LaFayette Nicholas and Gladys Clementine Cobb. Faye graduated salutatorian from Bucatunna High School in Mississippi. She married William Dice Wood on September 14, 1951in Waynesboro, Mississippi and had been married for 61 years before he died on November 16, 2012.
Bill and Faye lived overseas most of their married life, retiring in Roswell, New Mexico, then Waco, Texas and finally settling in Bay City to be near family.
Faye was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was an avid bridge player and made many new friends playing bridge here in Bay City. When living in London, England, Faye was a past President of the Petroleum Wives Club. Faye was also a past member of the Captain E. S. Rugeley Chapter 542 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren very much even though many of them lived out of state.
Faye is preceded in death by her parents, her husband brother William Lafayette Nicholas, Jr and sister Mary Lee Kaye. She is survived by her four children, Janet Wood Hickl and Paul of Bay City; George Pryor Wood of Perpignan, France; Ralph Rutledge Wood and Sarah of West Friendship, Maryland and Paul Nicholas Wood and Christel of Sweden; grandchildren Megan Hickl Pate and Adam of Bay City; Adam Hickl of Victoria; Emily and Darcy Wood of West Friendship, Maryland; Emma Wood of Des Moines, Iowa and Nicholas Wood of Sweden; sister Gloria Alice Davis of Destrahan, Louisiana and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Graveside services with the family will be at 10:00 am Friday, May 8, 2015 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
