Mildred Ward Pennington, 83, of Blessing, passed away Monday May 01, 2006 in Bay City after a long illness. She was born June 9, 1922 in Laredo, TX to Dr.Jeremiah Ward, Jr., M.D. and Mattie Jane Duderstadt Ward. She was a resident of Matagorda County since 1954 and was a teacher for 43 years. She retired from the Tidehaven ISD in 1984. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and was a former church Organist.
She is survived by her son: Patrick Andrew Pennington & wife Vickie of Louisville, KY; by her sisters: Jane Williamson of Gonzales and Imogene Jones of Phoenix, AZ; and by her grandchildren: Will & Patrick Pennington of San Antonio, Shawn Pennington of Lubbock and Matthew & Luke Pennington of Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband: James A. Pennington; her parents: Dr. Jeremiah Ward, Jr., M.D. and Mattie Ward; and by her brother: Jeremiah Ward, III.
The Family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 6, 2006 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with Rev. Harley Savage and Rev. Hoss Gwin officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery.
