Mildred Elizabeth Chambless Hand, 86, of Bay City passed away Jan. 31, 2010. She was born Oct. 29, 1923 in Sargent, Texas to the late Louis and Mary Evaline Loos Chambless.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 2438 and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge. She loved to fish and could catch anything using her cane pole. Mildred never met a stranger. She always made people laugh and was a very giving and gifted woman.

Survivors include daughter Darlene Jones and husband James Lockett of Cypress; son Reuben Hand and wife Patricia of Austin; sisters Rosie Wilson of The Woodlands and Collie Bowman of Trinity; brother Roy Chambless of Oregon and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck with James M. Lockett and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 2438 officiating.
