Mildred W. Braden, 83, of Bay City passed away February 13, 2008. She was born April 17, 1924 in Rosenberg, Texas. She lived in Bay City for many years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She loved her church and worked with the Congregational Care Committee for years because of her love for people and helping others. An avid golfer, she was a charter member of the Women's Golf Association and a charter member of the Bay City Country Club. She was a seven- time winner of the WGA Club Championship.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jesse Werlla and first husband Harry J. Ellis. Survivors include her husband Leonard E. Braden, nephew Don Werlla, sister-in-law Aline Werlla and "special son" Charles Townsend.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5-7pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John-Nelson Pope officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Allen, Richard Knapik, Chris Townsend, Stan Keathley, Frank Baker and Cecil Roberts.
