Mildred Marie Mayer Baca, 89, of Markham, TX passed away Friday, March 5, 2010. She was born November 19, 1920 in Van Vleck, TX to Robert Frank Mayer and Vinca Mikula Mayer. She was a lifelong resident of Matagorda County and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener, loved animals, and loved the bluebonnets and wildflowers. She was a founding member of the St. Robert's Catholic Church Altar Society in Markham and served as a 4-H Club leader for 12 years.

Mildred is survived by her daughter: Nancy Vavra & husband Dwight of Markham; her son: Michael R. Baca of Red Oak, TX; and her grandson: Jonathan Vavra of Markham. She was preceded in death by her husband: Frank G. Baca; her parents: Robert Frank & Vinca Mayer; and by her sister: Gladys Fabrygel.

The Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, March 8, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, TX. Pallbearers will be Tom Dornak, Geren Roecker, Lawrence Baca, Lee Edward Baca, Paul Allen Baca, and Jonathan Vavra.

The family wishes to give thanks to the Legacy Nursing Campus and the staff for their kindness and care. They also wish to thank the Matagorda Regional Medical Center doctors and staff for their kindness, care, and words of comfort during her two weeks in the hospital.
