Memorial service for Michael Don Miller, 82, of Zavalla will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Gipson Funeral Home, 1515 South Chestnut, Lufkin, TX 75901. A reception will follow in the Magnolia Room of Gipson Funeral Home.

Mr. Miller was born February 10, 1942 in Bay City, Texas, son of the late Lucille (Headrick) and Gordon Miller. He passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 in Dayton, Texas.

In 1960, Michael graduated from Bay City High School and continued his education at Sam Houston State University, where he played on the basketball team. After college, he worked for various petrochemical refineries. Mr. Miller enjoyed flowers, yardwork, and being outdoors. He loved playing sports; basketball, baseball, and football especially.

Survivors include his wife: Barbara Miller; sons: Troy Miller and Trae Miller & wife Melissa; stepchildren: Deborah Bean, Machel Forrester, and Lisa Hutchins & husband Stephen; grandchildren: Alec Miller, Kirszten Miller, Korinna Miller, and Madison Miller; step grandchildren: Nathan Renaud, Amy Renaud, Karen Renaud, Joshua Bean, Joseph Bean, Ellie Hutchins, and Brooke Blankenship & husband Clay; step great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Bridges, Addison Bean, Presley Bean, Caleb Trammel, Carter Blankenship, and Braxton Blankenship; and siblings: Cheryll McCullough and Ronnie Miller & wife Charlotte.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents; stepchildren: Cynthia Renaud and Melvin Halfmann, Jr.; step great-grandchild: Jacob Bean; and brother-in-law: Terry McCullough.
