IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Leon
Ledwig
October 21, 1949 – May 2, 2024
Michael "Mikie" Leon Ledwig, age 74, of Wadsworth, Texas quietly left this life on May 2, 2024, peacefully at his home, surrounded by family.
Michael was born October 21, 1949, in Bay City, Texas to the late Mike Philip and Pauline (Allen) Ledwig.
He grew up in Wadsworth, working on the family farm. He graduated from Bay City High School in 1968 and married his high school sweetheart, Mary Louise (Green) shortly after graduation. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage with four children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Mikie farmed for decades before working for Matagorda County, Precinct 1, then Precinct 2 as foreman. He was hard-working and well-respected by his coworkers and the community. His work ethic made an impression on his children and grandchildren.
Upon retirement, Mikie spent time with his family. He also made time for fishing and working in his many gardens. He was a very private man but his faith in the Good Lord ran deep.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise; sons Michael (Georgie) Ledwig of Wadsworth and Kenny (Shelley) Ledwig of Blessing; daughters Melanie (Jon) Yosko of Victoria and Melinda (Brent) Ballard of Houston; granddaughters Kacey (Travis) Long and Lacy Anderson; grandsons Kameron Ledwig, Damion Miller, and Ryver Anderson; and great-grandsons Easton and Weston Long. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce.
Mikie was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
The family will receive friends and family with a Visitation at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas on Tuesday, May 7, from 5:00-7:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm.
