Merle "Lynda" McKissick passed away Feb. 1, 2009 at Matagorda General Hospital. Mrs. McKissick was born Oct. 28, 1923 in Samaria, Oneida, Idaho to Levi G. Waldron and Sarah Eliza Thomas Waldron. She being the youngest of eleven children raised. Her parents and all of her siblings have preceded her in death. "Lynda" as her friends and family knew her was raised on a ranch in southern Idaho. Lynda and Bill McKissick met and married in California during WWII. After the war they came to Texas where Bill worked for Phillips Petroleum and Lynda worked for J.C. Penney Co.
Lynda is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bill McKissick, of Bay City, daughter and son-in-law Jerallyn and E. J. Thormaehlen of Boerne, TX, daughter and son-in-law Jan and Dean Hurst of Katy, TX, grand children Trey Thormaehlen, of Dalton, Ohio, Lawrence and fiancée Sammatha (Sam) Hui, of San Antonio, TX, Scott and Erik Thormaehlen, of Boerne, TX, Mark and Diana Hurst, of Corsicana, TX, Sarah and Maneesh Kumar, of Missouri City, TX, Annie and Ben Howington, of Raleigh, NC, 3 great grandsons (Taylor, Jakob, & Jack), 5 great granddaughters (Kenna, Joey, Isabella, Kai, & Lila Jane), one brother-in-law Jim Frazier, of Utah, 3 sisters-in-laws, Barbara Sullivan, Reba McKissick and Thelma McKissick of Bay City, special nieces and nephews. Special loved ones Johnna Kay Mitchell, Suzie Calk, Sherry Loring, and Sandy Burgyan.
There will be a graveside service held Wed. Feb.4th at 2:00pm at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, under the direction of Bishop Chris Bischoff of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There will be a visitation at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 3rd.

Howington. This is Lynda's great granddaughter who is currently in isolation at Duke Medical Center following stem cell transplant for her brain cancer.
Pallbearers will be Mark Hurst, Trey Thormaehlen, Lawrence Thormaehlen, Scott Thormaehlen, Erik Thormaeheln, and Stewart Hall.
