Mercedes Montoya Soto, 82, of Bay City passed away February 17, 2012. She was born September 23, 1929 in Kendleton, Texas to the late Jose Villanueva and Apoliana Gamez Villanueva.

Her sisters Delores Longoria and Celia Lara preceded her in death Survivors include her husband Filiciano Soto of Bay City; sons Jimmy Able Soto & wife Lillian of Rockport, Daniel Joe Soto & wife Teresa of Alvin, Victor Lee Soto of Bay City, Peter Soto & wife Janie of Rosenberg and Paul Soto of Richwood; sisters Marcela Castillo of Bay City & Antonia Charles of Jacinto City, TX; grandchildren Jimmy Soto, Jr., Lisa Soto, Victoria Soto, Danny Soto, Jr., Raymond Soto, Abigail Soto, Jesse James Soto, Ariel Soto, Carolyn Soto, Paul Ryan Soto, Christina Maria Soto, Paul Soto, Jr. and Christopher Jackson Soto, great grandchildren Marcus Soto, Lorenzo Soto, Lowell Williams, Kane Soto, Jade Soto and Sandra Soto and several nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Mass will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Castillo, Jeffery Castillo, Pete Lara, Ozzie Arnold, Jimmy Soto, Jr. and Frank Longoria.
