Mercedes Lynn Garcia, 11, of Bay City passed away May 1, 2016. She was born March 9, 2005 in Bay City and was a 5th grade student at Bay City's Linnie Robert's Elementary and enjoyed playing AAU Select Girls Basketball for Van Vleck's team "Hardwork."

Survivors include her mother Estrella Griggs & beloved step-father Vonchess ; her father Ruben Garcia & wife Erica; three brothers Ruben Garcia, Jr., Aaron Ace Garcia and Damien A. Rangel; two sisters Raelyn R. Rangel and Arissa R. Garcia; maternal grandparents Criselda Garcia Guerrero and Bobby & Leticia Garza paternal grandparents Guadalupe and Rosie Garcia, Sr.; and maternal great-grandmother Elva Saldana.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 8PM Friday, May 6, 2016 with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Riddick and Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Steve Trevino, Jr., Bobby Garza, Jr., Nicholas Garza, Ramiro Mendoza, Guadalupe Garcia III and Baldemore Garcia.
