Melvin Balke "Vato" Talasek, 72, of Wadsworth passed away April 28, 2012. He was born July 24, 1939 in Rosenberg, TX to the late William Talasek, Sr. and Carrie Maivar Talasek.

His sister Evelyn Rawlings and brother William "Bill" Talasek, Jr. preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Barbara Novosad Talasek; sons Mark Talasek and Mike Talasek and wife Karen; brothers Marion Talasek and Marvin Talasek; grandchildren Christopher, Chet, and Blain Talasek, Brandy Hicks & husband Russell and Tara Simons & husband Bubba and great granddaughter Kinsley Simons. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Monday at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with mass following at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Greg Korenek. Interment will be 1:30 PM at Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg. Pallbearers will be Blain Talasek, Chris Talasek, Chet Talasek, Bubba Simons, Russell Hicks, Bink Grimes, Clay Shock and Arthur Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers will be John Kennamer, G. P. "Peeper" Hardy, Don Wood, Doc Culbreth, Cody Novosad, Jean Miller, Martin Key, Bubba Hudson, Danny Poffenberger, Billy Pustejovsky and Pete Talasek. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Houston Hospice.
