Obituary

Melanie Faye Powell, 27, of Bay City passed away May 23, 2010. She was born April 4, 1983 in Bay City, TX. Melanie was a good friend to so many people. She worked at Matagorda nursing and Rehabilitation Center and was dedicated to her work. She took a loving interest in all of her resident patients. Melanie also went to the Culinary School of Cooking. She loved to cook. In her teens Melanie, sister Ashley, Charity Green Fernandez & Chelsea Green Hale would play Iron Chef in the family kitchen. Most of the time the food was pretty good, but at times the food just stuck to the pan, spoon and all, but they always smiled about their cooking results. Melanie and Charity where also know as The Wadsworth Domino Champs, rarely loosing a game.

She was preceded in death by her Great Grandmother and namesake, Faye Ester Spencer of Bay City; grandparents J. D. & Beatrice Powell of Pasadena and uncle James Ross Warren of Bay City.

Survivors include her mother and step-father Leisa Powell Presley & Jesse Presley of Bay City; father and step-mother Gary & Sherri Powell of Selkirk; brother & sister-in-law Kent & Crystal McDonald of Wharton; sister Ashley Powell of Wadsworth & her fiancé Jeff Wagnon of Bay City; nephew Hunter Bruening of Wadsworth; step-sisters Daphne Deprich & husband Tim of Matagorda and Ashley Krobot of Matagorda; nephew John Krobot also of Matagorda; step-grandparents Barbara Presley McGee & Claude McGee of Bay City; Aunts & Uncles Jime & D. J. Powell of Austin, Charles Hargrove & Alan Warren of Bay City, Sandra Archacki & husband Richard of Sugar Land & Patricia Frick & husband Otto of Bay City; Cousins Kerri, Nikki, Cody, Amber Dawn, Kimberly Ottis, James Lee, James Alan, Macy Ann & Rusty. Melanie had many friends that she really loved, Momma T, Kendal, Clara, Sonya, Jared, Misty, Tabatha, Billy, Ty and so many more. Thanks to you all for your love and support.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing.
