Obituary

With profound love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Elnora Maxine Ross, our Grammy, who passed peacefully at the age of 94 on October 31, 2025.  A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and servant of the Lord, she leaves behind a legacy rooted in faith, family, and unwavering strength. Born August 10, 1931 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, she was proceeded in death by her parents Gertrude and Bert Chism.

For 75 beautiful years, she stood hand-in-hand with her beloved husband, Don, as his partner in every adventure and his greatest supporter. Their tales warm our heart and amaze us at every story. Their enduring love was a testament to commitment, grace, and shared joy.

Maxine Ross was the cherished matriarch of our family—a steadfast anchor. She was the proud mother of three children, grandmother to eight, great-grandmother to twenty-one, and great-great-grandmother to four. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and more than anything, it was filled with love—a love that extended far beyond her family and into her community.

For over six decades, Maxine was a pillar of Cedar Lane Baptist Church. Her faith was not just spoken—it was lived. She taught Sunday School, served faithfully in the Women's Missionary Union (WMU), and supported missions with a grateful and generous heart. Her devotion to the Lord was evident in every word she spoke and every life she touched.

She was a woman of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering faith. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those she nurtured, taught, and inspired. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly.

A celebration of her life will be held Monday, November 3 at 2pm at Cedar Lane Baptist Church, where she worshipped and served for so many years. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the church's mission fund, continuing her lifelong commitment to spreading love and her faith.
