Maudell Gillette Hidy went to be with her Lord , dying peacefully at home July 5, 2012. Maudell was born in Orangefield, Texas on September 9, 1924 to the late Emanuel and Palmy Broussard Gillette. Maudell enjoyed duck hunting and finding native American arrowheads. She traveled all over the world taking cruises and playing golf. Maudell started playing the piano at church and social functions from a very early age. She worked at Camp Hulen during WWll with her father. She was one of the original pink ladies at Wagner General Hospital. During the 1960's she worked at the First Baptist Church in Palacios as Nursery Director and Church Secretary. She also helped her husband Buster on the operation of Gillett Net Shop. She was a beloved wife and caregiver to her husbands. She was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church at Fair Oaks Ranch, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Palacios for 40 years. Survived by her family; children, Stanley Gillett of Boerne, Texas, Edward Gillett of Palacios, Tx; sisters, Leta Bristol of Renton, Washington, Lois Gilliam of Centerville, Tx., Pam Connis of Palacios, Tx.; Morgan Gillett & wife Valerie of Palacios, Mandalyn Felix & husband Mike of Damon, Tx., Meagan Gillett of Pearland, Tx., Maslin Campbell & husband Mike of Alexandria, Louisiana, Stacie Gillett of San Antonio, Tx., Jana Bayless & husband Kevin of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Jack Gillett of Houston, James Gillett of Baytown, Halie Gillett of The Woodlands, Barbara Gillett of Boerne, Tx; 10 Great-Grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews in Palacios area. Preceded in death by parents, son Jack Lee Gillett, sisters, Evelyn Blanchard, Lara Sinclair Eisman, husbands, James Barbour "Buster" Gillett, Retired Col. USAF, Charles B. "Chuck" Rummel, James O. "Jim" Hidy. Funeral service 2:00P.M. Sunday, July 8, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Palacios with Rev. Chris Webb officiating. Burial in Palacios Cemetery. Visitation Saturday from 5-8:00P.M. at the funeral home.
