Matthew Vega Ordonez, 93, was born on September 21, 1914, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 30, 2008. He is preceded in death by his wife: Trinidad E. Ordonez; daughter: Helen E. Ordonez; and Son: Louis E. Ordonez.

He is survived by daughters: Nicanora Ordonez, Blasa Ordonez, Janie Ordonez, Veronica Ordonez (Juan), Mary Ordonez (Moe) and Candy Littleton (Quintin); daughter-in-law: Christina Ordonez; sons: Matthew Ordonez Jr. (Amelia), Paz Ordonez (Mona), Pedro Ordonez and Tino Ordonez; by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother: Juan Ordonez (Janie); and one sister: Dominga Gutierrez (Candelerio).

Matthew retired as a foreman for the City of Sweeny after 35 years of service. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the VFW Post in Sweeny.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Monday, September 1, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sweeny, Texas with Rev. Ralph Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at the Sweeny Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mathew Ordonez III, Paz Ordonez Jr., Reggie Matthew Jr., Juan Lopez, Nicky Ordonez and Jesse Enriquez.
