Mary Helen Roach, 86, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007. She was born August 5, 1921 in Palacios to Mae Taylor and Claude Smith. Her life was being a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She married John P. Roach on April 5, 1937, and together they had two children: Mary Jean Jones and John Thomas Roach. Mrs. Roach was a life long resident of Palacios and has lived the past 6 years in Houston, TX. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and of the Catholic Daughters in Palacios.

She is survived by her daughter: Mary Jean Jones and her son: John Thomas Roach, both of Houston; by 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law: Joyce Taylor and Jody Gonzales, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: John P. Roach, her parents: Mae Taylor and Claude Smith, 2 brothers: Tom Smith and Bobby Taylor, son-in-law: Joe M. Jones and grandson: Tyler Roach.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, November 9, 2007 at the Palacios Funeral Home with Deacon Mike Vieira officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery, Palacios, TX.
