Obituary

Mary Jane Perez Galvan, 68, of Blessing passed away on October 20, 2024.  She was born April 25, 1956 in Goliad, Texas to the late Epifanio Perez and Estephania Gutierrez Perez.

Mary Jane Galvan, was better known as "Meme", to not only to her grandkids, but to extended family members who appointed her the name. She was a pillar in her community. Mrs. Galvan dedicated 36 years of work to Tidehaven ISD.  Seeing many different generations of Tigers roam the halls. Her time away from Tidehaven was spent serving at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing, TX, However, despite Mary Jane's love for her school and church, her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandkids. She balanced a busy schedule of not only serving her school and church, but also making time to attend many of her grandkids' extracurricular events, no matter the location. The time she did allocate to herself was well spent tending to her garden while nurturing many pots and plants. Her selflessness knew no end. Mary Jane was known to care for and feed all her animals, while also rescuing many stray animals and nursing them back to health.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Garcia and two brothers, Guadalupe Perez and Albert Perez. Survivors include her husband Migel Galvan; daughter Margaret Ann Galvan (Dionicio Morales); sons Migel Angel Galvan (Janie) and Marcus Antonio Galvan (Laura); sisters Alice Figirova (Joe), Margaret Garza (Alex) and Rosa Garza; brothers Pablo Perez and Augustine Perez; grandchildren Leighton Galvan, Isiah Morales, Bryce Galvan, Cade Galvan, Destiny Morales, Desirae Morales, Boogie Galvan, Jaeda Bueno, Addison Galvan, Marcus Galvan, Victoria Galvan and Isabella Galvan; great grandchildren Jace Galvan, Levi Galvan-Heidrich and Raven Galvan and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Monday, October 28, 2024 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at St. Peter's Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Leighton Galvan, Isiah Morales, Bryce Galvan, Cade Galvan, Boogie Galvan, Marcus Galvan, Steven Caballero, Bubba Quinn and Kale Russell.
