Mary Ann Laslie Griffith, 76, of Palacios passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009. She was born September 27, 1932 in Palacios to the late Willie Harden "Bill" & Alvena Kopecky Laslie.
Mrs. Griffith had many loves and hobbies in her life including her children, gardening, hunting, fishing, and the love of cooking. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and an affiliate of the Church of Christ.
Mary is survived by her three sons: Durrell "Pete" Griffith & wife Deean of Markham, Lewis Griffith & wife Linda of Midfield, and Willie Griffith & wife Robin of Blessing; 4 granddaughters: D'Lynn Rahe, Heather, Alicia, and Kara Griffith; 7 grandsons: Frankie and Jeff Knebel, Wade, Chad, Chris, C.J., and Kyle Griffith; 15 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Vivian Turner, Willie Mae Simpson, and Lucille Dendy; 3 brothers: Lonnie B., Raymond, and Charles Laslie; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Phyllis Griffith Gill; and grandson: Brian Griffith.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Palacios Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. Zach Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers will be: Chad Griffith, Chris Griffith, C.J. Griffith, Kyle Griffith, Wade Griffith, and Jeffery Knebel. Honorary pallbearer will be Frankie Knebel. Donations can be made to The American Diabetes Association or Charity of Choice.
