Obituary

Mary Louise Gillespie, 86, of Van Vleck passed away January 17, 2014. She was born June 7, 1927 in Houston, TX to the late Norman Camp and Ethel Dann Camp. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Vleck where she served in the choir and a member of United Methodist Women. She and her late husband, Paul Gillespie, owned and operated Paul's Drive-in Grocery in Van Vleck for a number of years, but most of all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mary was an avid bowler and gardener and she loved the beach.

Survivors include daughters Cynthia Jaques of San Antonio and Joy Wernly & husband Timothy of Van Vleck; son Richard Gillespie & wife Brenda of Clute; sisters Betty Ritz of Louisiana and Doris Adams of Houston; grandchildren Andrea Hopkins, April Calk, Christy Brown, Caleb Wernly, Dean Gillespie, Ryan Gillespie and Phillip Don Kelley; great grandchildren Garrett Calk, Christin Calk, Colbey Calk, Easton Brown, Payton Brown, Annebelle Hopkins, Logan Gillespie and Lyla Gillespie and great-great grandson Landon Calk.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 20, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Van Vleck with Rev. Kenny Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Colbey Calk, Garrett Calk, Caleb Wernly, Dean Gillespie, Ryan Gillespie and Earl Hopkins.
