Mary Chesshir Carter, 64, of Bay City, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 in San Antonio, TX. She was born August 19, 1944 in Beeville, TX to Walter Chesshir and Thelma Bernice Baskin Chesshir. She was a resident of Bay City for the past 7 years and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was also a member and on the Board of Directors of Road Riders, Inc – Toys for Kids in Bay City.

She is survived by her husband: Richard Paul Carter of Bay City; her daughters: Trisha Mattison & husband Trent of Beaumont and Erin Ehlermann & husband Mark of Virginia Beach, VA; her sister: Patricia Luna of Beeville; her brothers: John Chesshir of Corpus Christi, Walter Chesshir of Jourdanton, and Kenneth Chesshir of Beeville; and her grandchildren: Logan Burke, Cooper Mattison, Andrew Ehlermann and Ryan Ehlermann. She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Thelma Baskin Chesshir.

The Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, May 8, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Beeville Memorial Park in Beeville, TX. Pallbearers will be Bill Jahnsen, Jim Halbert, Jesse Aguilar, Bill Luder, Keith DeFehr, and Danny Lee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Ehlermann, Trent Mattison, Logan Burke, Andrew Ehlermann, Ryan Ehlermann, Cooper Mattison, Mitchell Luna, Jeff Chesshir, Walter Chesshir, Hugh Robie, Tommy Saenz, Ronnie Radford, Jimmy Webster, James Lockhart, Burt Post, Gordon Dudley, Daniel Ramirez, and Carlos Montelongo.
